CHURCH-WIDE RETREAT 6/29-7/1
Save the Date! We will be having a retreat for ALL of our church family to attend. The location will be at the Calvary Chapel Conference Center in Murrieta Hot Springs. Plan ahead and mark your calendar for a time to spend with your family and other members of the church body in a refreshing, quiet, and peaceful atmosphere. We will have a light-hearted vacation together with all the amenities the conference center has to offer during the retreat. More details to come soon.

COST: $180 (with a $60 attendance rebate), textbook on amazon.com ($25-$30)**

The class will focus on spoken Mandarin Chinese for the absolute beginner.
Topics covered:

Pronunciation
Greetings & Useful phrases
Introductions
Numbers, Dates, Time (including Shopping)
Locating Persons, Places and Things

Reading and writing characters will also be introduced but not a main focus. The fee is $180 for the entire six weeks, but for each class attended, there will be a $10/class refund (up to $60) given at the time the course is completed. This is to encourage students to finish the course. All proceeds will go towards buying medical supplies for the short-term summer mission team to Asia.

If interested:

1) Please register with Kate Moon by 5/10.
2) Buy the textbook: Basic Spoken Chinese by Cornelius C. Kubler (the textbook, NOT the workbook)
3) Bring the fee to the first class.

*Non-church members also welcome, so if you have a friend who might be interested, please feel free to invite them to participate.

**The textbook contains 10 units total, so it can also be used for a second 6 week class to be offered in the Fall. If you cannot get the textbook by the first class, please let Kate know when you register and she will prepare photocopies for the first lesson.

Church of Southland is planting a church in Los Angeles! We believe one of the best ways to see people reached with the gospel is to plant a church that will proclaim and demonstrate the gospel to that community. Please join us as we pray, go and connect

PRAY! Church planting is a Holy Spirit endeavor, and without the work of God this effort will fail. Join us in pleading with God for the transformation of people and the city.
GO! We are building a team of people to help plant in LA. We are praying for 50 committed Southland members to begin this journey.
CONNECT! Maybe you can’t go, but you know people looking for a church in LA. Help us plant this church by getting them connected.

AMI INSTITUTE (MAY 28-JUNE 8)
The AMI Institute is an annual 2 week program that was created for the purposes of meeting AMI personnel involved in the various branches of the AMI community, to help create a stronger understanding of AMI’s vision, and to establish a more unified fellowship among the AMI churches. The Institute will teach about the AMI philosophy, theology and practice, as it is exhibited within the local church, as well as in the mission field abroad. Attendees will be equipped through courses such as Leadership, Sermon Preparation, Evangelism, Missiology, etc so that they might better serve both the local church and future mission endeavors.

People who are encouraged to attend are one year missionaries or interns, long term missionaries, church staff, church planters, and current and future church leaders; such as elder candidates and small group leaders. If you are interested or would like more information, contact Leslie Kang.
