99 Days to Pentecost: Day 32

Day 32 - March 17, 2021
Psalm 77:19-20 (Read Full Chapter)
19 Your way was in the sea
And Your paths in the mighty waters,
And Your footprints were not known.
20 You led Your people like a flock
By the hand of Moses and Aaron.
“We Will Remember”
Written by Pastor Samuel Pyo
I majored in History in my undergraduate studies, and some of the most fascinating moments in history have happened during times of war. I was always fascinated by the brilliant minds of war, people like General Douglas MacArthur, Horatio Nelson, and Admiral Yi Sun-Sin—just to name a few. What unites these great military minds is that they were always students of those who came before them. They looked back to moments in history and developed tactics to help them overcome their enemies. Their discipline of recollection helped them face the mightiest of enemies.
In this psalm, Asaph takes a moment to remember Israel’s history in Exodus. He recalls the testimonies of his ancestors, and how they explained the sea splitting before them, and how their forefathers were led through dry ground by Moses and Aaron.
When we face trials of various kinds, one of the ways in which we can regain strength is through remembrance of the testimonies of the Lord in our lives. When we think back to when God answered our prayers, does it not remind us that our Lord hears us? When we face troubled times, if we think back to the times when the Lord provided us with strength to endure, does it not bring hope to our lives? Even our conversion reminds us that the Lord is good—that He could love and forgive sinners like us. Remembrance is a key weapon in our battle for hope in our lives. Let us remember the goodness of God always in our lives!
Prayer: Lord, may we remember Your goodness. You have always been with us, and will never leave us. We know this because You have always been there, and You will always be there with us. God, may we remember You and Your power in our lives, always. Amen.
