“Divine Protection”
Written by Pastor Samuel Pyo

When we think of our situations, no matter how well or poorly things may be going, we desire a sense of control. One of the biggest weaknesses in our faith is our lack of trust in God with everything because we want to personally make sure that things succeed. However, when we take control of our own situations, we are simply saying to God that we don’t believe He knows what is best for us.

In this passage, Paul’s sister’s son happened to hear about the plot on Paul’s life. There seems to be an aspect of serendipity here, and we see that God had Paul’s protection in mind all along. Circumstantially, it seems impossible, but through God, it seems orchestrated. We might not always know how God moves, but we do know He moves. So we must remain faithful through whatever circumstances we face, for our Father always knows what is best for us. Pastor John Piper says, “God does not drive an ambulance.” Meaning, our God is never surprised. He knows all. And therefore, He plans all for our lives. Let us trust in His plan for our lives.

Take time to reread Acts 23 and prayerfully reflect on God’s Word to you through this chapter.
