For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ… Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will do it.
“Tension”

Our faith requires us to often hold two seemingly opposite truths in tension. Too far on one side or the other causes us to misunderstand the work of God in our lives. In today’s passage, here are the two extremes: [1] Paul’s exhortation for the church to continue to strive as the people of the day, putting on the armor of God; and [2] being assured of God’s faithfulness that He will keep us complete, without blame.
As you read this exhortation of Paul, do you find yourself teetering on one side over the other? Ask the Holy Spirit to help you keep this tension in your life according to His wisdom.
Take time to reread 1 Thessalonians 5 and prayerfully reflect on God’s Word to you through this chapter.
