99 Days to Pentecost: Day 83

Day 83 - May 7, 2021

Acts 12:5 (Read Full Chapter)
So Peter was kept in the prison, but prayer for him was being made to God intensely by the church.

“Prayers to God”
Written by Pastor Tina Hsu

Persecution and opposition towards the church was increasing. Herod had executed James, one of Jesus’ earliest disciples, and then put Peter in prison because the Jews who opposed the church were pleased by Herod’s actions. What is powerful about the early church is their faith that overcomes fear. Seeing James put to death, and Peter put in prison could’ve caused the early disciples to become fearful of man and frightened to suffer for their faith, but we learn that they pressed on with prayer and prayer for Peter “was being made to God intensely by the church.” They grew in boldness, unity, and believed in God for Peter’s deliverance. How is God leading you to labor in prayer?

Take time to reread Acts 12 and prayerfully reflect on God’s Word to you through this chapter.
